I won’t support any streaming service that has a sub+ad tier. Ads with no sub or sub no ads, anything else is incredibly greedy and the same as cable TV.
you’re high on mushrooms in the Viking age, the gods are everywhere

Good, lower OECD birth rates means member countries can open the borders more for immigrants looking for better prospects, better compensation and benefits for jobs in high cost of living areas, and less stupid hiring processes. Every labor shortage is a capital shortage. Also notice how CNN quotes executives and no labor leaders.
I find Frank Zappa’s opposition to censorship pretty inspiring and hope this trend continues:
“The biggest threat to America today is not communism, it’s moving America toward a fascist theocracy, and everything that’s happened during the Regan administration is steering us right down that pipe. […] When you have a government that prefers a certain moral code derived from a certain religion and that moral code turns into legislation to suit one certain religious point of view, and if that code happens to be very very right wing, almost toward Attila the Hun.”
I wouldn’t disagree about lying police, authoritarian judges filling for-profit prisons, etc but what felonies do I commit every day?
If I learned anything from Carlsen-Niemann we’re going to need to check their butts.
Every labor shortage is a capital shortage. If you compensate better for pretty much any job people will work them. It’s employers trying to shift the blame, but if they want 500 widgets but can only afford to employ enough staff to make 50 widgets it’s not the employees fault they didn’t get an extra 450 widgets for free, labor doesn’t work that way.
As someone who conferenced some basic ML research in early 2000s and then left academia for a boring/stable software engineering gig in a non IT org to escape the hype bubble only to end up having to talk to people about ML/AI frequently this article speaks to me.

Lobste.rs is pretty active too for tech focused topics

If you’re asking why wealthy people run to Switzerland specifically I have to assume it is in part due to the history of banks that make disclosing ownership a crime making them useful to hide capital in offshore accounts to dodge taxes in their home country, stash money related to crime or exploitation, laundering, etc. While their money may be stored anonymously once they show up in person they themselves are no longer anonymous and subject to arrest.
So if the same applies to Russia Putin is okay with a foreign country invading Russia based on lies, capturing territory, targeting and murdering civilians and kidnapping children, violating treaties, and they would accept a ceasefire with the invader keeping everything they currently hold to regroup for another assault? Get the fuck out of here
I don’t have anything against Rust, I’m just not very familiar with it
Pretty much all of the command line coreutils programs I use daily are in C; cd, ls, pwd, touch, rm, etc. If I want to write some small utility I’ll usually reach for a scripting language first like bash python ruby etc, but if it needs to be small and fast I’ll use C instead.

Employment is not a preclusion to imprisonment. If he wanted to stay out of prison maybe he should think about that before breaking the law and ignoring a congressional subpoena. If he didn’t want it to happen during an election why did he appeal for 2 years first?
They want to imprison homeless instead of house them to exploit them for slave labor. Abolish slavery in prisons and see if they keep outlawing homelessness.
