Liberals as in free market capitalists, not left leaning progressives.
I believe from context that the person you are replying to was using Liberal meaning:
a person who favors an economic theory of laissez-faire and self-regulating markets
Not the left-leaning meaning. It’s another reason political discourse is so awful. People aren’t using common definitions of their vocabulary.
HOLY. It’s not hard to look up:
Those are just the top 3 results from my search.
Actually, data can be singular or plural based on context. I realize English is one bitch of a language.
Do you have things on the external that precludes you formatting it? You aren’t doing it too often, so a tarball might work, but you’ll be wasting a lot of time doing it that way. Then again, if it’s once a month, that doesn’t seem like a huge deal. I just use rsync
now and then for my external backup and it doesn’t take long at all.
I’m kind of out of date with modern Linux stuff, but can’t you throw that in the .xsessionsrc
or .xinitrc
file?
Config an RSS reader for the channels you follow on youtube. Watch the videos locally after downloading them. That’s what I do.
He flew a helicopter onto Johnny Cash’s lawn to try to get Cash to listen to a song he wrote. It worked, but he wouldn’t suggest doing it.
“I need to transfer this herd.” = “I need to transfer this data.” - This is correct!
I always hear people bitching about the “no choice” of voting, but they never seem to be around during the primaries, when they could make a difference.
I hate a lot of things for stupid reasons
I had to check to see if I was about to reply to myself.
It seems like every other captcha I get has a picture of a moped and asks to click for a motorcycle. When I don’t click on the moped it says I’m wrong. Pisses me off.
Terrorists terrorizing. A tale as old as time.
I can’t remember the last time I bought a PC. I just incrementally upgrade over the years. I would be disappointed if they came out with a PC that only ran with their flavor though.
Mutually assured destruction was supposed to be a deterrent to anyone using nukes. Not to enable an aggressor force to do what they want without repercussions out of fear that they would use nukes. If they use nukes, at a minimum they’ll no longer exist. Probably along with the rest of us.
Here’s a tip I picked up somewhere. Make a playlist. An hour or two worth of music. ONLY listen to it when you’re studying. I’ve found my brain just blocks it out after a few times through, but it triggers my subconscious or something. As in, if I’m not feeling like studying, I put it on and my brain just goes,“OK, it’s time to study.” I change it up when I’m starting a new long task (writting a new book, starting a new semester, whatever). At first, I find myself listening to it, but it doesn’t take much repetition for it to fade into the background.
“Influencers”, advertisers, and just about every Wall Street job.
It’s not even close to the level bullshit that has gov’t funding drug research, and then getting gouged by drug companies. That doesn’t make it right. I hate this on principle, but on a pragmatic level I doubt the difference from the many current models is noticeable other than on a trivial statistical level. That said, it does really piss me off as a matter of principle.
