A response (or status!) on slack that’s like “I’m at the grocery, back in 20” is fine with me. It’s more annoying when someone wanders away with no status and is unresponsive for hours.

Some people are bad at working remote, and want to drag the rest of us down with them, too.
Yes, it’s a slightly different skill set to work remote. You have to be better at the written word. You can’t just roll up to someone’s desk and be like “have a minute?” (which is fucking awful anyway). You also need to be responsive and set your status appropriately. A lot of coworkers just wander off and leave their slack status as active. To my mind if you’re running an errand longer than taking a dump, you should update your status.
Sex work should be legal, regulated, unionized.
HR is not likely to side with the worker over the company.
There’s also a certain kind of “hr energy” that makes my skin crawl. Like if you worked at a company called AB Tech they’d be up front in the meeting going “I SAY A, YOU SAY B! A!” and I’m just like no, please stop, I’m not that excited to make charts for assholes.
The hr person where I work now seems nice, at least. My old job the main hr person gave me the creeps.
Just guillotine the rich already
No, it’s not awful all the time. Cruising down a highway or familiar streets can be kind of zen. I say this as someone who despises car-culture and believes most transit should be mass, public, transit options like buses and trains. But I have fond memories of cruising down the highway at night by myself singing along with my favorite music.
I live somewhere that’s walkable and has a subway system now, and it’s much better. Don’t have to worry about parking, insurance, fuel, drinking too much. So if you really hate driving, you could look into living somewhere that doesn’t require it.
ll take a very extreme example. Our culture’s racism would be inherently better with better transit. There’s reasons why more urbanized cores are more open to other people and cultu
I’ve also thought about this. Being on the subway with other people humanizes them in a way being stuck in traffic doesn’t. When you have the shared experience of everyone groaning over the “being held in the station by the dispatcher”, that makes a difference. It’s a lot easier to hate people you never see.
I use it to open the start menu a lot. Especially if I’m in a full screen application.
I live in NYC. It’s one of the few large places in the US that’s dense and not completely car focused.
Convenience store: 5 minute walk to several
Supermarket: several within 10 minute walk
Pharmacy: several within 10 minutes on foot
Library: I think there’s two within 10-15 minutes walking
Restaurants: several within 10 minutes on foot
Subway: about 5 minute walk. There’s also a bus stop there.
Very large park: 15 minutes or so
I never want to live somewhere where I need a car again. Someone I was talking to at a party the other day was like “I love having my car it’s so much freedom” and I’m like aside from needing to fuel, maintain, insure, and store it I guess.
In addition to the flying Nazgûl and what not, the ring could corrupt the proud eagle. They’d just fly off with it and then you have another problem.
Switched to Mint for desktop. Been mostly fine. Getting it installed was surprisingly harrowing. Annoyed that most mod tools for games are targeting windows. I guess I have to figure out wine and its whole prefix system.
I get a small amount of joy from clicking the “request changes” button and blocking some doofus from merging lazy untested code.

It’s spacey and sluggy.
Anything with a subscription is a no for me. I think subscription games are less popular than they used to be, but I never played WoW because paying every month seemed excessive to me.
Most shooters. Especially like CoD. Not interested. I enjoy the original doom, but that’s cartoony violence fighting demons. Some of the far cry games I’ve enjoyed, with some reservations.
Almost all free to play games. They don’t feel like an honest deal most of the time. Like, Warframe was good somehow. But a lot of them feel predatory or annoying.
Purely pvp games. No mobas or battle royales for me. I don’t want to deal with other people like that. A little pvp in a game, like dark souls, is fine. But I’m not looking for that to he the main thing, typically.
Bugmenot sometimes has LinkedIn credentials https://bugmenot.com/view/linkedin.com
Don’t click any of the scam ones though
I play guild wars 2 pvp sometimes. Gosh, people are so whiney sometimes. Like the first couple minutes go bad and they’re like “GG” and just idle in the spawn room.
I still think targeted ads should be illegal. I would accept static ads that are based on the content of the site rather than me as a compromise.
So like if I’m looking at example.com/cool-bikes you can show me bike ads. You don’t need to know who I am or track me.
It’s good enough for the past few decades (centuries?) it’s good enough for now. The Superbowl doesn’t serve a different ad to every viewer.
I mean… If I was playing like The Sims and one of the Sims was like “yo can I get a new bike?” I might be like sure bro. From their perspective I’m a god that exists outside time and space.
That’s not really how Christianity talks about its God though, usually. But also like the story of Job does seem like a kid and his friend fucking with their game.
I’m pretty sure that simply putting a picture of eyes in the scene reduces theft. People are emotional creatures , and if they feel like they’re being watched by someone who doesn’t approve of stealing, they’re more likely to refrain.
Been happy buying music from Bandcamp and not having a subscription. Didn’t even make it onto the chart :(
