But I do appreciate your providing some info - I was genuinely curious and didn’t quite know where to find this evidence - initial searches did not turn up the kind of “overwhelming evidence” you claimed existed. I’m not for a second disputing the USA’s involvement in coup attempts or regime change in general - I think this is quite adequately documented. It is possible to change it, of course, but every attempt thus far has ended in authoritarian political systems with even less opportunity for you to be housed, fed and well cared for, much less able to get things like affordable EVs.

I’m pretty convinced, sadly, that this is mainly because humans basically suck.

By minimizing costs, including R&D. Further, the lower the price the lower the profit and usually the lower the margin. Companies are not incentivitized to make less money.

Edit: I don’t know why you are downvoting. These are economic realities as they exist today. More R&D => greater costs => higher price. Fully Automated Luxury Communism is, unfortunately, not a likely reality in our lifetimes.

I’ve had good luck with them over 3 pairs. I get the exam at Costco and then buy from Zenni. The most expensive pair so far has been $108 for progressives with anti-glare etc although that was during a sale.
