You need empathy to moderate. What other reason is there to do it? You want to make the community a better place by keeping things civil and on-topic. You also need to be able to level with people about their criticisms and concerns.
Your Walmart doesn’t have self-checkout? Or other open lanes? It’s one particular cashier? Regardless if she’s harassing you like that you need to let her/management know.
I had no idea I even relied on them until they were down. My favorite podcast hosts through them and I had to find a workaround.
Well Nintendo is playtesting a Minecraft-style MMO so hopefully they’ve put resources towards better online play.
Don’t be embarrassed, nobody gives a shit about that stuff. Also… if you’re using condoms… how would she not already know your dick size!?
QWERPline and Welcome to Nightvale. Both of them are comedy faux local radio broadcasts on completely different ends of the spectrum.
Individual samples and UV lights, though often there was a rock where multiple people would lick it. People probably don’t get sick from that often.
Geology degree here - you identify some rocks by licking them. Licking most rocks will give you no information. But in a final, honestly, nobody would bat an eye if you licked all of them, just in case.
Tell your friends and family that you love them but you won’t see them for a while
How else can you appreciate the view from halfway down?
We’re actually in full swing replacing lead lines already. The BIL funding is paying for it and there’s an imminent deadline to have a lead inventory (Oct 16)
They’re too busy for international terrorism now they’re running the country. They only have time for domestic.
This is just an datum point
Gormless - Lacking initiative, foolish
Copacetic - correct, orderly, good
The intro scene on mushroom planet was great
Maybe it was just family physically in the room? You could monitor the air composition with a video feed from elsewhere, even just a room over.
EDIT: Ok just read through the article:
“the death took place in the open air under a canopy of trees in a private forest retreat near the German border with the association’s co-president, Dr. Florian Willet, the sole person present.”
So he wasn’t present or nearby, but someone else from the company was.
Also this bit sticks out to me (emphasis mine):
“On displaying cogency and an understanding of the stakes, it becomes possible push the button to activate the process, which cannot then be aborted.”
I wonder if this is a legal sticking point? If someone presses it and immediately has second thoughts, shouldn’t they have the freedom to open it and cancel the process?
If this meme were a meme I’d be that guy taking the bong rip
There actually is a huge push to replace ALL lead service lines in the next few years. Also the EPA has extra funding for treatment of “emerging contaminants” which includes PFAS. Republicans are trying (and succeding) to reduce this funding.
