  • For a lot of trump supporters, this is why they voted for him. He gave them a licence to be racist and sexist and bigoted, etc.

Al the things trump is, they are. And him being in office legitemises them. It makes them feel “heard” instead of “opressesed.”

Granted (of course) hate speech and any form of misogyny or predjudice (all of the above) should be illegal. It should be “oppressed.” But from their perspective, they aren’t allowed to be what they are, and trump makes them feel like they can.

Its a devastating realisation that i came to whilst watching those trump rally videos where the comedians go and interview the attendees with the aim being ro let them mock themselves by being caught out in a web of contradiction.

When the interviewers say biden did x y z terrible things and the trump simps say “yeah because biden is terrible and an awful person and should be in jail” but then they pull the rug and say, “sorry, i read the wrong but, that was trump who did those things”

When faced with the fact that trump is the one who did all the awful things they suddely switch over like they are bipolar and say, oh well trump is perfect so i dont care that he did those things. Or trump had a reason that made it ok. Or oh, i did t know he did that, but im still gonna vote for him.

  • Most right wingers think their views are legitimate because the right wing exists as the direct opposition to the left. But i think that view is warped.

We need to start considering right wingers as extremists and not the opposition. They should be outliers on a spectrum where the left is much more central and the right is much more to the extreme right

    |----------------------------------------left wing----‐-----center----------------------------------------right wing--------|

    Like that

They think their views are as right as ours are left. If they were, they would likely be welcome here.

  • If something is engaging, interesting, and entertaining, then it is far more likely to stick in your mind or teach you something new than a single sentence. This 17-minute video may do more to raise awareness of google search’s enshitification than any single sentence or minutes worth of info would ever have.

I dont disagree with you, but i dont think it matters. The video will help people.

  • Is that an indicator of poor impulse control? Really? Finding some shady back of the internet ai site to put some weird fantasy prompts into to get themselves off? Seems pretty calculated to me. They can’t put it somewhere legitimate where content is moderated and policed. Seems like pretty sound logic to me.

Dont get me wrong, these people are sick. If thats what they are into then theres something wrong, but instead of targeting real kids like so many people actually do, you know, like hollywood, celebrities, musicians, the catholic church etc they are entering prompts and reading stories. Sounds like impulse controlled to me.

  • I was under the impression that this is a misconception about the songs meaning.

At the time women would be expected to say no outright and go home. To say they have to leave, instead of having autonomy and being promiscuous.

So in the song the woman wants to stay but is following the societal expectation to say they need to leave and the man is giving her all the excuses she could use to explain why she didnt leave, so people wouldnt suspect her of staying over to have sex.

These days that expectation is not there so the song is interpreted in a different way and sounds super rapey.

To be clear. I am not advocating for this old way of thinking, nor am i saying i know the explanation i have given is true. I am only telling what i have heard and felt like to me that actually makes a lot of sense in the right context.

Basically, women wanted to be able to have sex with anyone they wanted, but people would look down on them for doing it. So, to avoid being ostracised, they would avoid situations like that.

But again. I may be wrong. I have just heard this explanation and wanted to share.

  • The first time i saw one of his reviews, i thought, “This guy isn’t genuine.” “That’s not an opinion. it’s a specification disguised as an opinion.”

He gave off real shill vibes, and then i later found out he was an apple simp, and it all came together. He isn’t super biased, but he definitely gives more providence to apple products.

His recent review of the apple vr headset was too nice. He said some bad things but qualifies each critisism with a “but i like that” or “but it’s not a deal breaker.”

Maybe i created a bias against him based on my early impressions, but i just get a bad vibe from him. He doesn’t seem to give his opinions.

I will say, though, an exception would be that rabbit thing he reviewed poorly recently and got some backlash from the manufacturer for. I believe he then came back and justified his review. Although everyone was reviewing it poorly so he would give the game away if he said it was good. So perhaps its not an exception… i dont know. Im just freestyling this comment…
