100% and they’re trying to work on the definition of ‘Doctor’ too.
I was wondering when they would start to figure out that maybe it’s a bad idea for the government to get between people and their doctors.
If they’re anything like my mother, they automatically assume anyone speaking in any language other than English within earshot of her is shit-talking her, specifically. The thought that someone might be saying something mean-spirited about her is just too much for her tiny brain to handle. If you think she’s a bitch, she needs to know. It reeks of desperation and the need to be liked by all people at all times while also doing nothing to bridge that gap yourself.
Haha, what a silly Onion article!

Oh. Oh no.
Oh my goooooood. This is so delightful, you can almost see the smirk. Thank you for sharing. <3
Yep. Elephants are wonderfully kind creatures. With my very limited understanding of elephant body language, it didn’t look like an ‘oh no, im scared’ it was more ‘oh hey little guy, didn’t see ya there. ill get outta your way.’
The two things that I think of when I think of India are that it’s way too overpopulated and also way too hot.
Aside from that, there are a lot of academics I’ve seen from India that are genuinely helpful on YouTube but also a lot of scams. Speaking English with an Indian accent almost instantly creates a sense of distrust in Americans simply with how many times we each personally have received scam calls or talked to someone in an Indian call center who swears their name is ‘Derek Johnston’ or other similarly fabricated name.
He can go kick rocks. I’m trying to help you.
From an outsider perspective, it looks like you told him to “go respond to this guy instead”, but linked the same comment that it was already responding to. It was confusing and made you look like the asshole in the situation, which I’m trying to help prevent in the future.
Oof. Nevermind, then. Tried to show you why being an asshole about it might have backfired, but keep being jaded!
Apparently the way Lemmy’s link creation works makes all first-level replies to your comment the same link AS your comment. So, in providing the link ‘to be helpful’, you only linked to your own comment. That’s not actually helpful and so it doesn’t come across in the best way.
This is an image of Mark Barden, not Alex Jones, BTW. His son was killed during Sandy Hook.
Yeah, I get that. I think it’s partially to do with how rarely I’ll have an actual issue. Also with their turnover rate, I rarely interact with the same tech twice.
I still do all the legwork to figure out if it’s something I can fix myself and always put specifics (Repro steps, Error Codes, etc.), but pulled back on listing every other step I’ve already tried.
I feel bad that my old job’s IT department would never trust me when I listed this amount of detail, so I stopped putting in the extra effort.
My ticket: I am not able to login using the standard portal. The error I recieve is X. I have already tried rebooting. I have confirmed that everything was fully plugged in and that I am on the correct network. I also already went through the normal recovery process which did not work. Here is the result, [X].
The first response from IT: Why don’t you try rebooting and then let me know if it’s working. If not, go through the normal recovery process.
Like, I get it, you’re being thorough and don’t want to just blindly trust the user, but I’m only talking to you because I already tried your quick fixes. Please understand.
Christians: Give your money to the poor and love your neighbor as yourself.
Also Christians: Those lazy illegals are taking our jobs! We shouldn’t be taking people’s hard-earned money and just GIVING it to people who have PROVEN they can’t manage it! What about MY bootstraps!
They’ve convinced themselves their (absolutely wrong) choice is the ‘morally correct’ one. Even LISTENING to a contradictory argument is seen as a moral ‘corruption’, so they just … don’t.
Because they’re a notoriously bad design that is prone to failing on every front that Tesla claimed they were the ‘cutting edge’ on. They’re just BAD. The only way Tesla is going to sell out of their production line is by forcing someone to buy them, and it looks like it’s the US military.
I wouldn’t think the same thing for Ford F150s, but I DEFINITELY would if suddenly we started hearing about police suddenly buying Fisher Price cars after hearing story after story of how they break down and leave toddlers stranded.
I’d imagine the biggest difference is that these employees could actually get fired if they turn theirs off.
You said there was no evidence that anyone would change. I told you my personal story how this IS impacting me and how I’m going to change OS on my next computer, and you… just sarcastically dismissed me?
Did you want to actually contribute to the conversation or just be upset?
