But seriously, I think the majority of perfectionism is rooted in childhood shame. That comes from family that was overly critical, so we attempted to address it by being perfect. Maybe try messing things up in a safe manner on purpose to behaviorally teach yourself that it’s okay to make mistakes.

My friend has a history of overeating and was about 70 lbs heavier than she is now. She started a keto diet that helped her get to her current weight/size, and now employs a modified diet where she goes keto regularly rather than stay on a strict diet all the time. I don’t know. I saw similar situations recently in the Narcos series on Netflix. Innocent people were placed into situations in which they had to either (a) break the law for considerable compensation or (b) not break the law and suffer horrible consequences. I guess in that situation, the best you can do is to pack up as soon as possible and hide somewhere. There’s really nothing else. If someone has the financial means and audacity to bribe a juror with $120k over a case with 70 defendants defrauding $250 million from the government, they likely have the means to order a hit on you and your family. It’s a terrible situation to be in, and I would love to know how this has been handled in the past, how they are going to handle it now, and what the outcome will be.

Yeah, it seems like misplaced anger that is masking underlying pain and sadness to me. The right-wing leaders take advantage of their mental health issues for their own selfish goals. It’s disgusting.
Is there any valid evidence of this radicalization? Anecdotally, I’ve been in the Global War of Terrorism social circles, and they seem to be pretty even with their political distribution, maybe a little more right leaning, but I think that’s due more to lack of higher education than military experience. What I think happens is that the right likes to make logical fallacy appeals, so they exploit radical veterans by giving them a louder voice.

I’ve got nothing against people that experience mental health issues and believe that they can make outstanding contributions to society, but maybe we should really consider the nature of their issues. Perhaps, we shouldn’t give much validity to a person with a history of psychosis professing conspiracy theories, just like we shouldn’t give much validity to a person with social anxiety advocating for the end of social gatherings. Maybe we could focus on their strengths rather than exacerbate and promote their difficulties and related unhealthy accommodations.
First Union, which was bought by Wachovia, which was bought by Wells Fargo was my first bank account. Sometime around 2009, it came out that they were doing some pretty shady shit along with going out of their way to fuck their customers out of money by posting their purchases in a way that would maximize fees. I like Linux because it let’s me do whatever I want on it. Windows is so controlling. For example in Windows, there are lots of occasions where a window will pop up asking you do make a decision, and while that window is up, you cannot click on any of the other windows. Say I want to save a file, but I want to look at the document. If the save window is up, I can’t review the document because it wont let me. That’s so freaking annoying.
Aside from all sorts of little annoyances like that, Linux is sooooo customizable. Using KDE PLasma, I could just add widgets on my desktop that show me the status orf my computer or even let me write notes right on the desktop. To do that on Windows, I have to mess with Rainmeter for days trying to figure out the proper settings using a text protocol I am not familiar with. While Linux does run into some difficulties, they tend to be easily solvable by just running an Internet search or posting on a forum relevant to your distro/DE.
Lastly, there are lots of things that just work on Linux that don’t on Windows. For instance, my network printer just works. I didn’t even have to install a driver. I just added the printer and it did everything else for me. Or, I could use KDE Connect and easily transfer files from my phone to my desktop and vice verse, get phone notifications on my desktop, and even text from it without any tinkering. It just works.
The only reason I could see people using Windows aside from subjective preferences is when they’re forced to because of work or they realllly want to play a one fo the few games that doesn’t work on Linux. Otherwise, Linux is just objectively better as a whole.
I’m a Linux user since 2010. I’ve been pure Linux since 2020. I do not fall under any of those groups tho :/
