That is literally how the school system works in Denmark, too. I’m not sure why he’s taking for granted that anyone would have taken college level chemistry classes. We can pretty much pick and choose what classes we want to take starting around age 16, and once you get to a college level, your classes are just related to whatever degree you’re getting.

Also, for a second I imagined a scenario where voting is done by small groups in booths, booing for the politicians they don’t like and clapping for the ones they like, and then someone would watch the tapes and just count how many people booed and clapped at every politician.

For what it is worth, CDs are definitely pretty rare, because it’s just an obsolete media. The CD was convenient before phones became even more convenient. Vinyls, on the other hand, are very popular and often occur because they’re decorative and playing them is considered an experience.

What even is bail anyway? I’ve never understood this concept. Either you deserve to be in custody, or you don’t. And the one singular thing that could never change this is whether you can put money down. Good behavior, maybe. Or a time limit on how long you can be in custody before facing trial. But not a fucking down payment, are you kidding me?

They’re not meant to be used to change prices on the fly. The 10 minute window is literally just so you can fix mistakes like typos, in case it says 179.9 when you meant to put 17.99. Like when a customer comes in, and says “the advertising said this is supposed to be $5 this weekend, but the price tag still says its $8, what gives?” Then you can go to the back, change the price to $5, and it will update all the tags for this item on the fly. There is no limitation stating you need to wait 24 hours or however long you think would be fair. You can also use it to schedule sales that start at a specific time of day, fx food items that are made to be consumed on the same day might get cheaper near closing time.

Price gouging is still price gouging, and generally, at least where im from, there is a legal obligation that the customer can rely on the listed price at the time they pick up the item. I can’t imagine it’s that much different in the us?

OOOOH now I get it lol. Guess I had to see it from a more personally relatable perspective.

I have the same experience as your observation, i.e., when I was younger I primarily just empathized with the main character and never went deeper. And now I can do both.

Where I’m at currently, I still primarily empathize with the main character, especially on first watches. Although, I may be taken out of it by a really cool shot, or if I discover something important about the writing that takes my thoughts in that direction.

It is on subsequent watches, when I already know what is going to happen to the characters on the surface level, that i start to think about why the movie is written this way, like a step deeper. That’s when I will begin to think about the big picture things.
