but now we have a scapegoat

I totally agree this isn’t a easy fix and it will take decades to change but I feel that should be a challenge for the US to start making the change not a reason to keep the status quo.
What frustrates me is there doesn’t seem to be anyone in a position to promote change to this problem that is really talking about it. They may pay it lip service but nothing beyond that.
A true “Patriot” would follow the trail of the filter. Where did the raw materials come from for the filter? where was it manufactured? how was it shipped to the store? Who put it on the shelf? If a dirty librul ever touched it then it can’t be certified as “non-woke”
I think the way you need to do it is The Onion style of journalism, with a wink and a nod. BUT when your crazy ass right wing theories get shared as “FACTS” on other social media sites you don’t dispute it. I kinda think that is how most right wing YouTubers do it.
If the system was working as it should congress can impeach him. But that’s not going to happen we know that he knows that.
I also think that he is using this GOP congressional firewall to keep doing it because why not?
To take a side route and just say that I agree that Bush deserves the hatred for his actions and decisions but I think the evil moniker should be place on the chest of Cheney and Rumsfeld. Bush was just a weak President that allowed those two to call the shots.
I get allowing former felons to run for office - they served time that society said was their punishment. They are done with it.
But a law that bans a felon that has not completed their punishment is a different story.
That is true it is a big part of society and how to get along, and you would think that because this is one of the foundations of this society it would be a bigger part of someone’s education. This shouldn’t be something people should have to figure out on their own in order to feed themselves and their family
One semester of Schmooze 101 could go along way in helping an awkward yet brilliant scientist get the funding they need.
It’s the plan of defunding many public services so they can’t work efficiently then point to that inefficiency as proof that government is bad. Then they promote the “extremely efficient” private sector as the savior to all the bad government problems. And it just happens that these representatives own businesses that can supply all these goods and services at a modest profit of course.
Damn at just 5 ft most of southern Louisiana is completely submerged. And these are probably not the wealthiest people so where do they go? Do they live in FEMA trailers further in land? Do we as a country have a contingency plan for this ? I doubt it but I hope I’m wrong.
I mean there probably are enough homes to help these people but that may cut into Blackrock’s rental profit so that’s out of the question…
The more I look at this map the more overwhelmed I get at the number of people that will be displaced at just 5 ft.
Where does Florida Man ™️ go when his trailer is underwater? Is he now Georgia Man or Mississippi Man?
This is a migration that I don’t think people want
You know what makes a great society? Teaching your kids the bare minimum.
Yeah but people and corporations would have to change and that’s too difficult instead we should do something easy like colonize another planet. /s
It’s these deep pocket corporations that I think will keep a major housing bubble burst from happening or when it happens it will be fast.
They can buy x number of houses now at these inflated prices, they can but 10x X number of houses with a major downturn in home values. Then with all this buying of homes the prices shoot back up… At least that is how my high school level economics knowledge brain sees it.
I mean at those prices you don’t expect too much quality. Unlike Teslas that are poorly built but priced like the aren’t
There is no world where corporations take responsibility for their emissions and consumers get to continue the same lifestyles.
This is true in the world we live in now. The powers that be like the way things are, They are mostly very old and very rich, they don’t give a fuck. This makes it easy for massive corporations that have created this mess to manipulate those in power so they don’t have to do anything to be apart of fixing the problems
But there is a world where we could put younger, more concerned people into power that could start to make some changes to how the world works. This won’t fix the problem, we are too far along for that, but it would at least (hopefully) not make this planet completely uninhabitable to every form of life.
From the article
Kardashian’s advocacy has been credited in part with opening the former president up to the idea of criminal justice reform, eventually leading to the passage of the First Step Act in 2018. The prison-reform law marked a rare moment of bipartisanship during Trump’s presidency, and even some of his harshest critics have lauded its passage.
Not a fan of her or her show but I’m all for her using her fame to help make changes to help people reintegrate back into society.
It would be cool if a private citizen or two set up tables around Idaho towns and just gave away these banned books to anyone that wanted them. The fear is those people that follow the teaching of a peace loving hippie that lived 2000 years ago would probably beat them up and threaten to kill them.
