  • This mortifies europeans of every generation. In Scandinavia you can leave your pram unsupervised outside a café so your child can sleep well in the cool fresh air while you get a coffee and talk to the other parents doing the same. European schoolchildren walk or bike to school from first grade onwards and they can take public transportation all on their own. Our playgrounds would be deemed suicidal by modern american parents and they would freak out knowing children learn to whittle with sharp knives in a waldkindergarten.

I really don’t know how americans can still believe to be the freest nation when the only freedom index they are not completely outclassed by european nations is the economic freedom index.

To quote the greatest poet of our time:

The finger to the land of the chains What? The “land of the free”? Whoever told you that is your enemy.

  • If baboons and macaques are monkeys, and if howlermonkeys and spidermonkeys are monkeys, humans MUST be monkeys.

Because they can ONLY both be monkeys if their common ancestor was also a monkey and we share that very same common ancestor. In fact we are closer related to macaques and baboons than to spidermonkeys, which means we share a more recent common ancestor with old world monkeys than both us and the other old world monkeys share with the new world monkeys.

Cladistically, you can not outgrow your ancestry.

Humans are apes, apes are a subgroup of monkeys, monkeys are a subgroub of primates.

  • Which drives the partisanisation of the media. Bozo is right about one thing: the trust in media is at an all time low in the US and trust is build through accurate and unbiased reporting. Endorsing politicians is biased as hell.

The newspapers repudiation of a fascist in dangerous times would hit that much harder had they not endorsed other politicians in less dangerous times.

So now it’s damned if they do, damned if they don’t… swallow that pill they must at some point. But it would have been an easier pill to swallow after the rule of fascism in the US had been averted.

First, let me agree that everything in the kingdom Animalia is, in fact, an animal.

But now let me point out that many of the people who say shit like this might not speak english as their first language. Many languages have different words for animal for different types of animals. I tried to find out what I’m half remembering but I can’t find it quickly and I have to get to work. But I vaguely remember that some word that’s usually translated as animal into english actually doesn’t include insects. Just like the english “deer” at one point in time refered to all wild beasts (but not fish or fowl) and now only refers to Cervidae.

  • There are different kinds of proteins build from different amino acids, 9 of 20 amino acids are essential, meaning our bodies can not produce them, so we need to eat them. Meat contains all the amino acids we need in our bodies in the amount we need in our bodies. For vegetables that’s not necessarily the case.

Because of that vegetable protein needs to be very varied and balanced to be a complete diet, and just lettuce and apples is not enough.

In a first world country we can get these vegetable proteins varied and year round with little to no problem, which makes vegan diet a sustainable and morally superior diet.

In the developing world people are generally happy about being able to have a complete diet, moral questions take a backseat to survival and health, so carnivorous or piscivorous diets are far more common.
