The curse of Private-Public Partnerships (P3s) means middle-men sapping all the value out of long-term government projects. We simply cannot trust these organizations with our energy infrastructure.

I mean at that point just call it Bleed lol
Paper without some sort of code to hide what’s happening isn’t much better, considering if something ever happens you could get searched.
I mean yes but it’s more than just feelings and hateful people on Twitter:
And when you talk about this as a man you get exactly the kind of replies I got, or worse. This is how you drive men right.
I’m honestly tired of women bailing us out in these elections though, so I cannot imagine what it’s like for them to have to keep doing it.
That said, when men were losing their jobs they got told “learn to code” by callous and shitty journalists and women’s rights activists. It’s not hard to see why men are abandoning liberal governments that blame them for everything even while they are experiencing statistically worse outcomes with each successive generation.
The solution is so simple that you have to be abandoning it on purpose: promise men educations and to help them get employed, and you’ll get all the support you need.
Forget the porn, it’s the absolute insanity of forcing (and allowing) all these different web services to get and maintain our identities. Huge privacy breach from people preaching that government overreach is bad… This hypocrisy gets old fast.
The only good thing I’ve seen him say is that there should be more competition in the telecommunications market
The Conservatives didn’t do anything last time about this despite it being a big discussion point, and they had years of majority to do it. I don’t see them changing tack since they don’t seem too bothered by any of Canada’s other oligarchs.
All that said, the Liberals barely took a step forward on this either, right before taking a huge step back allowing Rogers and Shaw to merge. These damned neoliberals just refuse to help anyone.
I mean I’m down as long as we’re not talking going full tankie
Plenty of church-going pro-lifers feel like they’re doing the best for their communities and people in general. It’s why when we make arguments we need to not talk down to people like they’re idiots, because they generally are not.
If I was on the receiving end of a line that far up it’s own ass I’d stop listening immediately.
A typical position held by people who call themselves “left” is a desire to completely ban gun ownership on the grounds that gun ownership leads to gun violence.
Gun violence was much lower when you could buy actual machine guns right off the shelf, and mass shootings were virtually unheard of. What happened since then, and how would banning guns fix it?
This is just one of many blind spots that make the statement unrealistic.
Ok I’m a lefty but I’ve always hated this statement. It is the launching point of a great deal of ignorance and idiocy, kind of like some religious dogma.
It’s in the nature of males to seek control over female reproduction
Go down to the section titled “Views on abortion by gender, 2024” https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/fact-sheet/public-opinion-on-abortion/
I keep critical applications running at work that thousands depend on. While I was at a union convention, one of my apps broke. I had to login that day and fix it while going over the budget with other members.
This is how the IT world is. I’m the only person capable of maintaining it and I must be available if things go wrong. The show must go on.
This article is from before they dropped droplet theory later in 2020. In the section titled “Factors to Consider when Using Cloth Masks to Protect Wearers and to Prevent Spread of Infection during the COVID-19 Pandemic”:
The primary transmission routes for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are thought to be inhalation of respiratory droplets and close contact; therefore, WHO recommends wearing medical masks during routine care and using respirators during aerosol-generating procedures and other high-risk situations (17). However, SARS-COV-2 is a novel pathogen, and growing evidence indicates the possibility of airborne transmission.
They then go on to explain that cloth masks are the option of last resort and are not very useful. Surgical masks with proper fitting around the face and a certain minimum rating for water resistance will help, but most of the “surgical” masks we were all buying do not have enough layers and no water resistance ratings, and who among us got training on how to properly fit a mask to our faces?
Dropping a link and calling it information when you don’t understand the content or haven’t read it is not productive.
Surgical/cloth are pretty much useless for COVID. N95s buy you temporary protection unless you’ve got the special face fittings needed to actually seal your face. It depends on the environment you’re in but the worst case scenarios (like enclosed spaces without high airflow), the last study I saw was on the Delta variant and they said about 15 minutes if both parties are masked. It does get better from there though, with good ventilation you might have a few hours, and being outdoors you’re actually pretty safe.
The droplet theory was dropped within the first few months. It turns out it’s not just COVID; many infections we thought were spread by droplets are actually airborne.
You don’t tell the fucking UN to evacuate because you want to attack someone.
Like many things, people hate it because of its associations with other things. They will happily throw it out even if it has good uses. Here have some spicy examples:
Some people experience gender dysphoria and may benefit from medical intervention? Nah it got abused by ideological idiots so it must always be bad. Karl Marx says workers must arm themselves? Nah guns are bad, I know this because rightoids like them.
It’s like when Bush Jr. pushed for the adoption of reading programs across America that focused on phonics, so people took a rebellious stance and taught kids “balanced reading” which taught kids to memorize words rather than the sounds that make up words.
The result: an epidemic of illiteracy to own the Republicans. Bush was/is a warmongering piece of shit but he was right about phonics being the correct way to learn reading.
The costs used for wind/solar energy never included the cost of the required buffer storage, and even the rare few people who include that never factor in frequency stability which to this day is maintained by the giant steam turbines everyone wants to get rid of. It will not be trivial to solve the frequency stability problem; it will likely require massive investment in pumped water storage, flywheel storage, or nuclear energy, and these costs once finally included in the real cost of wind/solar will hurt its value prospect considerably.
As for nuclear waste: the overwhelming majority of nuclear waste generated over the lifetime of a reactor is stored onsite. Only the smallest amount of material is what will actually remain dangerous for a long time, and many countries have already solved this problem. It’s a seriously overstated problem repeated by renewable-purists who usually haven’t even considered how much frequency stability and grid-level storage have and will add to the cost of renewables, meaning they have not given a full accounting of the situation.
